A Lesson from Jonathan Livingston Seagull
The following quote is from a fictional seagull.
"Your whole body, from wingtip to wingtip.. is nothing more than your thought itself, in a form you can see. Break the chains of your thought, and you break the chains of your body, too.."
It bleeds Truth.
Jonathan Livingston Seagull has been my latest teacher, bringing me back once again to the pureness of what it means to be alive -- the freedom of flight. The ability to manifest realities beyond the realm of thought and then watch with wonder as thought follows. The clarity to be found from the hearty blend of practice and experience. And the sudden realization that all it takes to fly is the desire.
From there you just do it.
Diligent practice is the ultimate key. Steady, thoughtful progress along the heart's way -- la manera del corazón -- is the path to freedom. Listen deep to that little restless seed of freedom existing in the here and now. Realize here that there is nothing more to seek. No greater, more elite version of the self is waiting to be achieved. You're already there.
